[Samba] Samba on LAN

Hi list,

I am part of some lanparty organizers and I haven't found answers on
some basic SMB questions. First I'm gonna provide my network info.

The LAN area is a single subnet (192.168.200.0/22)
approx. 550-600 hosts will be on that subnet.
Most of the hosts will only be managable via DHCP.
No more host informations available.
Some may even run their own WINS - out of administrative control.
This results in *many* workgroups.
Possibility of Win9x clients. Maybe IPX/SPX will be used for "old
applications".
A DNS service with dynamic host updates via dhcp is running (bind9 &
dhcp3-server)

Now my questions:

Shall I use WINS at all?
Which netbios-node-type?
Do I need any modifications on my DNS to provide SRV entries?

Supposed configuration:

[global]

workgroup = fighternight
server string = %h server
domain master = yes
local master = yes
preferred master = yes
os level = 65

socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 1000
syslog = 0
panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d
security = share

?? dns proxy = yes ??
?? wins support = [ yes | no ] ??

I'm happy for any response

Cheers
Bjoern
