I don't think anybody will give you a definitive answer on
this one, you will just have to try. You will most
definitely not get all the functionality you might get from
a recent version. It should be possible to compile 3.0.23d
even on a 2.0.36 Linux kernel. Maybe not directly, it might
require some tweaks.
