Just out of curiousity, try setting the lpq command to
"/usr/bin/lpq -s -P%p at linus".  LPRng has a way of reporting
completed jobs.  I'm still looking to this though.

$ lpq -Pq1
Printer: q1 at tornado
~ Queue: no printable jobs in queue
~ Server: no server active
~ Status: job 'root at tornado+250' saved at 12:13:51.055
~ Rank   Owner/ID               Pr/Class Job Files                 Size Time
done   root at tornado+250             A   250 smbprn.00000005.5Pa 112115

$ lpq -s -Pq1
q1 at tornado 0 jobs
