[Samba] offline situations: winbind on notebooks ?

I'm planing to build a Win2003SP1 ADS Domain with some Debian servers 
and varios XP and Debian machines - incl. some notebooks.
Now notebooks using NIS (slave) so they can work also offline with a 
correct and every time new user/group informations.
The new environment should work with winbind - without NIS.

Works winbind on notebooks in a ADS domain also in offline situations? 
(IDMAP_RID or ADS+SFU schema+PADL)
