[Samba] Can mount shares but not "net use" them

Forgive me if I'm covering old ground, I'm not at my own computer and 
other mail may have addressed some of this.

try "net use L: \\192.168.1.10\sharename"

Is wins enabled on the server?

Is the wins server entered in the XP workstation's IP configuration
(have to manually enter it if your DHCP server isn't going to be 
handing it out)

Are the WinXP boxes in fact members of the domain?

If you can't use wins for some reason, you could edit the LMHOSTS file 
on the XP box

(but, you don't want to go there is you can help it)

on the windows box you can see what your computer is (or is not) 
seeing:	net view \\servername
	net view \\192.168.1.10
	net view /domain:domainname
