[Samba] xp pro workgroup access problem

Hi list,

I did not touched Samba since almost 2 years (everything in my former
office was uner Linux :)

At this time I had no problem to connect to a regular Workgroup.

Now, I found it impossible (log says the xp pro machine is only sending
its name, no user no P/W); the only way to access it is to create
virtual drives.

Is there a (simple) possibility to recover this feature because I
don't want to setup a PDC?
