I have added reply to the bug.

It was on a quad Opteron, 10GB of Memory and gaggles of disk.

RHES v3.0 for X86 - 32bit [not AMD_X86 - 64bit] is the OS being used.
With kernel-smp-2.4.21-20.EL being the installed kernel.
