Ash,
What error messages are being recorded in the Eventlog on the NT4 PDC?
You can obtain further diagnositic output with:
net rpc join -S NTSERVER -U administrator%password -d 5 >/tmp/foolog 2>&1
Can you connect to the NTSERVER using smbclient? You should be able to connect
with:
smbclient //NTSERVER/C$ -U administrator%password
