I think john.nelson at teradyne.com has responded to you on
this. You need to upgrade to Samba 3.0 and ensure you're
using the hash2 mangling method (it does this by default).
This should stop the 8.3 collisions that may be causing
your problem (thanks to John for tracking this down).
