[Samba] Problem installing samba-2.2.8a from tarball

hi

i uninstalled samba from my system.
i got the tarball form samba site.

i ran
1. ./configure --with-winbind-auth-challenge
2. make
3. make install.

i check rpm -q samba but its not installed.
can someone tell me what i am doing wrong.
