I have now thanks John,

  Initially I just added the #03 entries had still had no joy,
 although they remained in the wins.dat file now that I'm adding them when
nmbd isn't running ;-)

I added entries for #00 and #20 and now every thing seems to be working just
fine.

It maybe worth adding the above pointers to the Samba How-to Guide ?
