I am curious to understand why you need static entries. Please give me an
overview of what you aretrying to achieve. Let's see if there is no better

You must stop nmbd before creating any static entries. If on restart the
static entries get deleted that would be a bug.

I just tried adding a static entry and found no problem with the entry. It
remaind there without problem across several restarts.

Note: MURPHY is my static entry.
