[Samba] Samba and private shares

I keep going over the man file but I still can't figure out why it prompts
them for a password and then won't let them in. I still can't access the
folder unless I open it up to the whole network.

upgrade to samba 3 and study man smb.conf
to make you more familiar with smb.conf parameters
