[Samba] Samba and OS X 10.2

Hi

now i don't know if this is a problem with samba or with OS X. When i 
connect to a samba share via OS X's biult in smb support, the sizes of 
folders and files are far greater than they are on the server (or if 
they are moved to the client computer) ..example, Folder with a size of 
4 gigs on the client gets to be about 7 or 8 gigs on the server when 
seen via samba. If checked on the server (du -d1 -h) the size is 4 gigs.

any ideas why this is ?
