[Samba] pam_smb?

>From what I understand, pam_smb allows unix users to login using credentials stored on a windows server. ie jsmith exists in active directory only allowing him to login to unix. Is this right? With pam_mkhomedir will this also make a home dir for him under /home/DOMAIN/jsmith?
