Sure, but smbfs does not support SSL either. smbfs is part of the Linux
kernel package, and NOT part of Samba. All that Samba provides is the user
space glue for setting up smbfs based connections (smbmount et al).

So if you had planned to use smbclient you might get to use SSL, but not
in a 'mounted' file system.
