[Samba] Samba 2.2.8 and OS X 10.2.4

I can not get 2.2.8 to work successfully on OSX 10.2.4.

It compiles and installs fine, but whenever I test this smbclient, the
shares fail to list and I get a failure message ( forgive me for not
being specific ) with 0 bytes sent. When looking in the log file, this
is what is reports:

2003/05/31 10:47:16, 0] smbd/connection.c:claim_connection(187)
claim_connection: tdb_store failed with error Success.
[2003/05/31 10:47:18, 2] smbd/reply.c:reply_sesssetup_and_X(1007)
Defaulting to Lanman password for gringo
[2003/05/31 10:47:18, 0] lib/util_sec.c:assert_gid(111)
Failed to set gid privileges to (0,20) now set to (20,20) uid=(0,0)
[2003/05/31 10:47:18, 0] lib/util.c:smb_panic(1094)
  PANIC: failed to set gid

Now, I ended up using Xamba to get this to work and Xamba uses Samba
2.2.2. I would like to get the source for an older version of Samba, but
I could not find it anywhere on the samba ftp site.

Anyone know what could be causing 2.2.8 to cause the kernel panics?

Scott
