[Samba] Linux server not shown in WINS browser

Our shared file server decided to take a hiatus from WINS earlier this week.
On friday we could see the machine name in the browse function of any windows
box when you went to the map network drives portion of windows explorer. Now
the only way I can map a network drive is to enter the server's IP like this:
\\ 192.168.xxx.xxx\sharename
But this also presents a problem because this server also provides the
password verification. At least this is how I understand it. On the Win 95
boxes I get a message saying something like "No Domain Server present to
verify password.", something like that, but the shares are still available.
At least once I change the map to use the IP instead of the machine name.
This is the only server I cannot see in the Browse Function. All of the rest
are present and accounted for.
I am still learning Linux and Samba, so this may be an easy problem to fix,
but I haven't been able to get to place that shows me the configuration files
or why it would suddenly Not Work.

The server in question is running Slackware, I don't know which version and I
don't know how to find out.

Thank you,
Job
