The Samba Team is proud to announce the availability of the
third (and possible last) beta release of the Samba 3.0.0
code base. While we are significantly closer to the final
release, you should be reminded that this is a non-production
release provided for testing only. If all goes well, we will
move onto a series of Release Candidate (RC) snapshots next.
There have been significant additions to winbindd's
functionality in the release as well as changes to Samba's
SID<->UNIX id mapping features. Please refer to the
Release Notes for details.
The source code can be downloaded from :
http://download.samba.org/samba/ftp/beta/
The uncompressed tarball and patch file have been signed
using GnuPG. The Samba public key is available at
http://download.samba.org/samba/ftp/samba-pubkey.asc
Binary packages for RedHat, also signed by the Samba GPG key,
have been released and can be found at
http://download.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/
Others will be available as they are submitted by volunteers.
A simplified version of the CVS log of updates since 3.0beta2
can be found in the the download directory under the name
ChangeLog-3.0.0beta2-3.0.0beta3. The Release Notes are available
on-line at
http://www.samba.org/samba/whatsnew/samba-3.0.0beta3.html
We are also taking this opportunity to beta test our new
Bugzilla server. The intent is to replace the old jitterbug
installation (bugs.samba.org). The new bug tracking system is
located at
https://bugzilla.samba.org/
Please search for existing bugs before filing new reports.
As always, all bugs are our responsibility.
