I am using security = ADS, actually.
Here's a copy of my smb.conf:
[global]
server string = Brian Spiegel [Samba 3.0.0]
workgroup = GROUP
security = ADS
encrypt passwords = yes
realm = DOMAIN.COM
password server = ads.domain.com
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
local master = no
domain master = no
preferred master = no
os level = 0
winbind uid = 10000-20000
winbind gid = 10000-20000
[Samba]
comment = Samba Configuration and Setup Docs
path = /home/username/samba_setup
read only = no
browsable = yes
writable = yes
guest ok = yes
