[Samba] Samba Authentication2

Leonardo,

Is the Samba server in question the PDC or is another Server,
specifically a Windows server the PDC? If the PDC is a Windows server,
then you will need to recreate all of the user accounts that will need
to have access to the Samba server and also recreate all of their
passwords. (On the Samba Server.)

If you are looking to avoid that, but gain the benefits of not
having to pay for Client Access Licenses, then you should look at
OpenLDAP and Replace all of your Windows servers with Samba Servers in a
Domain configuration.

You still need to update to the latest release of Samba for two
reasons:

	1. There has been a recent spat of CRITICAL security issues with
Samba that warrant updating to the latest release. If you fail to do so
and wish to continue to run Samba, then you are risking the integrity of
your network's security. The last security issue allows a remote
attacker to have root access to your Samba server. Which I need not
remind you, is VERY BAD.

	2. I have read of more then a few issues with the release of
Samba you are using, 2.2.1a, running with Windows 2000 Clients. (I
believe it has something to do with some minor "tweaks" Microsoft had
done to the SMB protocol, of Win2K with a service pack. Unfortunately, I
am unable to verify that at this time.)

Subject: [Samba] Samba Authentication2

What about this:

How can I set a parameter (valid user) in the shared folder (smb.conf)
in
order to it can authenticate the users in the PDC? because I can only do
this with the Linux users.

Thanks in advance

Leonardo
