Nobody tells you how to handle samba cups behind a iptables firewall
using turboprint drivers. What ports that must be opened, file
permissions etc.
My samba server is up and running. I can see all my client maschines
and they can see me in the windows neighborhood.I can also print from
my lindoze to my Epson Stylus C20UX . The drivers is not supported in
the cups version 1.1.x I have therefore I installed tuboprint drivers
and they work fine from the lindoze. But I cant install the network
driver on the windoze.
What have I done:
The samba shares [printer] etc. Peace of cake.
I have also opened ports 137..139 on the Lan card. Not at the loopback
interface.I have also opened the cups port 631 on lan card and
loopback.
I use this spool dir. /var/spool/cups and have set the permissions to
0777.
I have set the permissions on sambaomagic foomagic_... and the dir of
turboprint that contain the Epson_Stylusc20ux.ppd
I have created a symlink to the cups backend dir.
And after all that I still cant install the printer as a network
printer.
In windoze I get ok on this command. net use LPT6: \\< my lindoze>\<my
samba share for the printer>
In windows using: net view shows all the shares including printer
share.
In smb.conf I use printcap name = lpstat.
lpstat -v shows tp0:/dev/usb/lp0 which is the path to the printer.
And still I cant install the priter.
Whats going on and what have I missed?
