Someone that knows something about domains should answer this ...

The XP doesn't like the domain your client machine is in or the domain you
are (implicitly) using. You could try setting the workgroup option to a
domain you know the XP box will accept (and use a username/password from
that domain).

No idea if that is supposed work.
