Try "./smbpasswd -j DOMAIN -r DC -U DOMAINADMINUSERACCOUNT" and that
should help

Did you already make the machine account in AD?  If so, try deleting it,
wait for replication, and try again.  If there isn't an account, try
making one and trying it.  Mine worked fine after I removed the machine
account and let samba create it for me.

Hello.  I'm trying to integrate my samba 2.2.3a linux server into my
Windows 2000 domain structure.  The domain is EMPIRE and the only DC is
VADER.  The smbpasswd results are as follows:

$ ./smbpasswd -j empire -r vader
cli_net_auth2: Error NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT 
cli_nt_setup_creds: auth2 challenge failed
modify_trust_password: unable to setup the PDC credentials to machine
VADER. Error was : NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT. 2002/03/22 09:00:17 :
change_trust_account_password: Failed to change password for domain
EMPIRE. Unable to join domain EMPIRE.


Am I doing something incorrectly?  I'm not even being asked to type in a
password.  The domain is in mixed mode (not native mode).
