W2K SP2. At log level 2 I see the following periodically from the W2K boxes:

[2002/06/27 16:31:30, 0]
libsmb/cliconnect.c:attempt_netbios_session_request(10\
90)
attempt_netbios_session_request: DELL rejected the session for name
*SMBSERVER with error Not listening on called name

Will need to check whether these are occurring for the NT4 machines
tomorrow.

Difference in performance is most noticable when accessing an Access
database file, but also other database applications.

With oplocks on, there's the odd

[2002/06/27 07:29:39, 0] smbd/oplock.c:request_oplock_break(1008)
request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock break request to pid
673\
5 on port 3136 for dev = 305, inode = 620963, file_id = 400

Performance very slightly faster with oplocks on than off.

tcpdump indicates a difference (16k against 8k window) :

W2K:

16:38:51.061699 < dell.dcallen.co.uk.1194 > golux.dcallen.co.uk.netbios-ssn:

S 1

NT4:

16:42:52.331699 < vectrave.dcallen.co.uk.1174 >
golux.dcallen.co.uk.netbios-ssn:
 S 55800:55800(0) win 8192 <mss 1460> (DF)
16:42:52.341699 > golux.dcallen.co.uk.netbios-ssn >
vectrave.dcallen.co.uk.1174:
 S 443059864:443059864(0) ack 55801 win 5840 <mss 1460> (DF)

My next test will be to bring the W2K value down to 8192 to match NT4. Does
any of this give any clues?

Thanks

Tim
