[Samba] Unable to join NT domain

Hi all,
I am a rather Samba newbie.
I am trying to setup samba on a solaris 2.5.1 server that hosts my
Clearcase information so my NT boxes can access the data.
I have followed the smb.conf man page to the letter

# Global parameters
	browseable = yes
	netbios name = boulders
	netbios aliases = boulders.casc.com boulders.inse.lucent.com
	dead time = 60
	workgroup = ma8117
	server string = Samba Server
	hosts allow = all 
	hosts deny = all
	security = domain
	encrypt passwords = yes
	password server = MA8117DC01
	wins server = 135.17.42.6
	dns proxy = no
	name resolve order = host wins bcast lmhosts
	preserve case = yes

But I get the error
added interface ip=152.148.10.139 bcast=152.148.11.255
nmask=255.255.252.0
resolve_hosts: Attempting host lookup for name MA8117DC01<0x20>
resolve_wins: Attempting wins lookup for name MA8117DC01<0x20>
bind succeeded on port 0
Got a positive name query response from 135.17.42.6 ( 152.148.89.158 )

cli_nt_setup_creds: auth2 challenge failed

I am lost.
