I have a root and a machine account in the smbpasswd file and I believe
that the RID is set correctly, here is the line:

wk2pro$:1034:6C7EF96EC372B7FBA79CAC48901F7C2E:BF8D7597A019748CFCD21F8E009AC902:[W ]:LCT-3C4DC94E:3068:

The 3068 is the RID, which I set manually (UID*2+1000)

I then log into the W2K machine go into the 'System Properties' >
'Network ID' wizard enter the root account and password with the
Domain. The next screen says that the account couldn't be found on the
domain and pops up another window for 'Computer Name' and 'Domain'.
Enter the computer name'w2k' and domain. The next screen asks for
username, password and domain. I enter the root information and then
wait for a few minutes and get the following error in the samba log.

[2002/01/22 14:07:52, 0]
rpc_server/srv_samr.c:api_samr_set_userinfo(672)
  api_samr_set_userinfo: Unable to unmarshall SAMR_Q_SET_USERINFO.

Meanwhile, the W2k machine asks if I want to have the user 'root' added
to the machine, I decline and finish the wizard and the prompts me to
restart.

I reboot and login as the user and get the following logon messages:

"The system cannot log you on to this domain because the system's
computer account in its primary domain is missing or the password on
that account is incorrect."

The password is correct I have made it idiot-proof to get this thing
working.

TIA.
Chris.
