RedHat comes with Samba in four RPMs.
Just remove them and install the new one.
$ rpm -qa|grep samba
samba-2.2.1a-4
samba-client-2.2.1a-4
samba-swat-2.2.1a-4
samba-common-2.2.1a-4
$ su
password:
# rpm -e samba samba-client samba-swat samba-common
# rpm -ivh samba-2.2.2-20011013.i386.rpm
-tsy
