[Samba] Rookie Question - Change Computer Name

I’ve also tried deleting / adding the computer names with no luck.  Only
works when I do a domain/workgroup switch
 
Does anyone else have any suggestions?  I can’t imagine this is not
possible with SAMBA.
 
Is SAMBA capable of simply allowing a computer name change in the
domain?

this is not so simple. In order to work it has to handle some changes :
delete the previous name entry and add the new one. Maybe the sole
solution goes through a simple domain/workgroup switch.

Yes, I’ve tried that, and it still doesn’t work.  The only way I have
gotten this to work is by un-joining the domain (Do WORKGROUP) then
change computer name, then re-joining the domain.  
 
I posted this message thinking that it is possible to do with SAMBA.  Is
SAMBA not capable of simply allowing a change in computer name?  Hope
not.

I think you should log as local admin on your pc and then change the
name of your computer. And then log again on your domain, but don't
forget to delete your machine from samba and add it with the new name
else the server will not let your computer log in.

We have been able to successfully install / configure SAMBA on our LAN /
WAN.  Everything is working out just fine
. Just 1 little problem (And
I’m sure it is something I screwed up or missed in the docs).
 
When changing a computer name on the client PC (Win2k), I receive an
“Access Denied” error.  I’ve even tried using the root account to change
the name with no avail.  Although I am able to join the domain. 
 
I can post my smb.conf file if need be.
