2.2.3a has some know issues with regards to driver download.
Can you run "grep BUG <logfile>" and see is there was an smbd 
crash?  Also can you try to reproduce this against the latest 
SAMBA_2_2 source code?  If there is still a bug, I would like 
to get it fixed before 2.2.4 ships.
