Updating WINS server

I have a small home network with two subnets. I have set up a wins server
and all works fairly well. Windows clients see each other easily in
different subnets. Linux clients can mount the windows clients in different
subnets.
The problem is when I smbclient -L winserver, from time to time windows
clients just drop off the list.
Is there some command to make the winserver update itself (and stay
updated)?
