Problems compiling pam_winbind.so (Samba 2.2.2)

Hi,

as I read in a previous thread it is necessary to compile the
pam_winbind.so manually with make nsswitch/pam_winbind.so .

When starting the compilation the process ends with the error message

make: *** [nsswitch/pam_winbind.po] Error 1

I am using SuSE Linux 7.2 (Kernel 2.4.4) and downloaded the
Samba-2.2.2-Version from samba.org.

Does anybody have an idea, why this error message comes up ?
