I still get nothing. Now here is the odd thing. My brother's mac is running

shares, but it doesnt list anything what so evever, all of the folders are
blank.

Any idea?

THANKS!

: As far as diagnostic modes are concerned, I'd say setting a higher log
: level would be a start. Log level 3 gives a fair bit of information. It
: looks like you may have the name lookups setup incorrectly. Check the
"name
: resolve order" option (mine is set to "name resolve order = host lmhosts
: bcast"). Then make sure you have the applicable hosts properly noted in
: /etc/hosts and /etc/lmhosts (or /etc/samba/lmhosts), depending on your
: system. I use RedHat 6.2 and 7.1, and I've recently done a successful
: install of Samba 2.0.10 on a Slackware 7.1 box. I've not played with any
: other flavours of Linux.
:
: Failing all of the above, make sure your system's DNS is working. One
: problem I found on the Slackware box was that Samba would simply refuse to
: start unless the DNS was running. That meant that if the permanent dial-up
: connection didn't succeed at boot time, Samba tried starting and then
: exited because it couldn't look up any names. (This problem goes much
: deeper I think, but I hope you see what I'm saying!)
:
: That's all the help I can offer for now. Hope this helps.

: Anthony.
