samba nt and nis

I may be getting my threads crossed, but I'm fairly sure you said you
were using BSD. If my memory servers me correctly, pw will work properly
with NIS - you could modify your password chat to work with pw instead.
Check this first, as I'm not 100% sure my memory is reliable on this
point.
