./configure isn't working

Dawn,

It appears that you either do not have a C compiler installed
or do you do have it in your PATH.  I'm not an IRIX guy so I
cannot offer any advice on where to get rebuilt gcc binaries
for you platform.  Hopefully someone else will post a link.
