I'm using 2.0.7

Do you have the O'Reilly book Using Samba by Robert Eckstein, David
Collier-Brown & Peter Kelly? I worked through that, tried a few things and
after about a fortnight finally got it (rebuilt my Ultra 5 about 3 times in
the process but got therein the end.

I believe the problem that I was having was thus:

I too have been using shares - I created one for my home directory:

[darren]
    comment = darren's directory
    path = /export/home/darren
    writeable = yes
    guest = yes

I guess the problem to be related to the fact that NT (and 2000 I guess)
send an encrypted password to the Samba server while trying to connect to
the shares that are available. That was my understanding of it. I could see
my Samba server in Network Neighbourhood but no shares, do the password bit
and hey presto...

Perhaps someone with a little more knowledge on this would be able to
explain things correctly or in a better way?
