file access problems

I am running samba 2.0.7 and I have a public share set
up as writeable.  I can write a file to it but that is
it.  I cannot delete the file unless I am on the Linux
side or through a DOS shell.  It also gives and error
from the windows side if I try to open a directory in
the share.  It says that the folder does not exist. 
This prevents me from copying folders or looking into
them.
