Can't connect from Windows 2000

Yes, I found this on the Web also, and it works. I still have no idea what
the original problem was. It just kind of went away yesterday. Weird. The
thing is, I've seen it reported by others, just no answers (except for the
one that involves changing the code which kind of scared me off).
