file locking problems on DOS app

kernel oplocks, oplocks, locking, fake oplocks, veto oplock files ...,
were all part of the various combinations that I tried - unfortunately
they were of no help.  ICBW, but it appears MSDOS apps don't support
anything but the DENY mode locks anyway - which is what the 'share modes
=' option affects.

Any other ideas?  It looks like I've got this week to solve this.  If I
can't - that server will have to go NT and it'll probably end the
experiment with Linux here - the folks above me are NT centric and
skeptical already.
