Why doesn't smbmount work?

I don't know if this helps or not, but smbmount usually never works on
my Linux box until AFTER I've established at least one prior session
with smbclient IMMEDIATELY before attempting the smbmount.
Consequently I wrote some expect scripts to do exactly that to each of
the Windoze boxen I have to mount immediately before the call to
smbmount takes place. This seems to somehow 'wakeup' the Windoze boxen
to the fact that a mount is about to take place.

*Shrug* I havnen't the foggiest idea why this technique works reliably
but it usually does.

Hope this helps.
