You don't have a samba problem, possibly a smbfs problem.

Yes, it means that the connection was dropped (probably by the NT) and
that a new connection was created to replace it. No error, just paranoia
logging. I assume nothing stops working?

The message should perhaps be changed into "Success! we got a new
connection" to illustrate what it actually means. A common error is
	smb_retry: signal failed, error=-3
But then things stop working.

generation=138 means that it has reconnected successfully 138 times.
