You didn't mention what OS you are running on your UNIX system. Linux
supports smbfs which allows you to mount windows file systems. Samba
supports a feature called smbsh (smbwrappers) on some systems that
allow dynamically linked programs to access windows file systems by
refering to them as /smb/<machine>/<share>/file (check out the smbsh
man page for the limitations and how to use). Finally you could use
a product called sharity that allows you to mount windows file systems
on UNIX systems that don't support smbfs (anything but Linux).
