Problem with volume serial numbers

I have some NT workstations and some Windows 98 workstations conected to a 
Samba Server(version 2.0.7). The NT workstations can get the volume serial 
numbers of the shares but the Windows 98 can't get. The problem is that I have 
an application that use this volume serial number for copy protect scheme and 
it can work only on NT or Windows 98.

The samba (or Windows NT) have any mode to disable this volume serial number?
