nbtstat doesn't show MAC address for samba servers

Hi,

ping <netbios> of the samba server,  then execute command
arp -a  you get mac address

> On  Win9x I issue the command:
> nbtstat -a <netbios name>

> If <netbios name> is a Win9x machine I got the MAC address of that
> machine on the last line of the command output. If it's a samba server

> the MAC address is not returned:

> MAC Address = 00-00-00-00-00-00
