Help on LDAP Compile

I have been trying to compile LDAP support on the CVS, and keep getting the
same errors from the config.log:

/usr/lib/libldap.so: undefined reference to `res_search'
/usr/lib/libldap.so: undefined reference to `dn_expand'
/usr/lib/libldap.so: undefined reference to `_getshort'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I am using stock RedHat 6.1 with openldap 1.2.7 libraries from the RedHat
ftp site.
