I've just tried with 2.0.6-pre3
obviously 06842 is a non-existent host in my network.
$ smbclient \\\\06842\\go -U go -d 3
Can't find include file /etc/samba.d/
added interface ip=10.0.0.7 bcast=10.0.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Client started (version 2.0.6-pre3).
resolve_wins: Attempting wins lookup for name 06842<0x20>
bind succeeded on port 0
resolve_bcast: Attempting broadcast lookup for name 06842<0x20>
bind succeeded on port 0
resolve_lmhosts: Attempting lmhosts lookup for name 06842<0x20>
resolve_hosts: Attempting host lookup for name 06842<0x20>
Connection to 06842 failed
It seems smbclient considers that number a name, that is it does what
you expect it to do. Give 2.0.6-pre3 a try.
