Samba 2.0.3 and NT Terminal Server SP4/MetaFrame 1.8

We're being bitten very hard by this problem, except that our
WTS installation is running SP3 rather than SP4.  It may be
associated with messages like this in the Samba log:

[1999/05/05 17:11:16, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_data(407)
  write_data: write failure. Error = Broken pipe
[1999/05/05 17:11:16, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_socket(191)
  write_socket: Error writing 75 bytes to socket 5: ERRNO = Broken 
pipe
[1999/05/05 17:11:16, 0] lib/util_sock.c:send_smb(568)
  Error writing 75 bytes to client. -1. Exiting

>... NT pops up a message stating "Error writing to
