2.0.0 Broken Pipes

2.0.0 was working great for a long time, but after I was installing a new version of ppp
I started getting the following error:

    [ date time ] lib/util_sock.c:write_socket(191)
        write_socket: Error writing 4 bytes to socket 6: ERRNO = Broken pipe
    [ date time ] lib/util_sock.c:send_smb(564)
        Error writing 4 bytes to client. -1. Exiting

I since returned the ppp version to the orginal, but the error persits.  This is preventing
my users from logging in.  Please Help.
