Strange error when no more space on device (off topic)

While doing some speed testing i tried copying a LARGE file (256 Mb) to a
samba share.
Near the end (262.140 Kb written) the device was full, as i found out by
reading the logs.

But the WinNT machine gave me a very strange error message, as seen in the
attachment.
Trying to read the file (which was still open) gave me a nice unknown I/O
999 runtime error and
slowed my machine (PII/128MbRAM) to a crawl.

I understand this has nothing to do with Samba (i think), but might be
interesting ...
