SWAT authentication problems

(SAMBA 2.0.2 on RH Linux 5.2 Kernel 2.0.0)

I set Swat up (I think) correctly, but I cannot get into it: I get an
authentication error.  This is a brand new Samba installation, I haven't
even created smb.conf yet.  Couldn't find any fix for this in the Swat
docs or old SAMBA digests-- any help would be greatly appreciated!
